The Aim of the Trap

In the following video Rick gives a good baseline for the setup and execution of trapping as well as the rationale behind it.  The trapping that he demonstrates is a blend of JKD and Filipino trapping methods and he flows from one to the other seamlessly... nice work Rick!

The Training of a Champion

This video (almost a music video) shows a montage of training footage for Nicolae Stoian, a Kyokushin Karate champion.  Check out the fight training and conditioning that he does.  While I don't agree with all of the methods utilized, it does show a willingness on his part to work hard at anything that he thinks will improve his skills on the mat.

Ron Balicki

I've known Ron for a long, long time and am always excited to see what new things he is up to. He has had his own training organization for quite a while as well as doing stunts and fight choreography on TV and in movies.  The following video shows some of the work that Ron has done - you should recognize most of it if you are a fan of action!

History of Okinawa Te aka Karate

The following video gives the history of Karate or Okinawa Te.  Okinawan Karate is somewhat unique in that it has both a "hard" and a "soft" element that are taught together.  Look deep into their training methodology and you'll see elements from other arts and movement skills.

14 Blades

Not sure if you saw this or not but if you are into Chinese martial arts and history then you'll enjoy this movie!  It's got good guys, bad guys, and spinning blades... what more could you ask for?

BTW - if you don't understand Chinese then you might want to click on the "CC" button on the viewer control panel so that you can read the subtitles in English!

In Search of Miyamoto Musashi

Not sure how missed this when it was on the History Channel but now that YouTube has allowed the posting of longer videos you can now watch this in its entirety.  It's a little long (about 1.5 hours), so sit back and watch Mark Dacascos go in search of the greatest Japanese swordsman in history.

Judo... The Gentle Art

Calling Judo "The Gentle Art" is like calling Nascar quiet!  I really enjoyed the hours I spent studying Judo and Jiu Jitsu and still fall back on those basic skills when I'm in the clinch.  A basic understanding of a couple throws and takedowns will go a long way in a fight.  I still remember the hours spent developing the hip and shoulder throw... and the skills that I honed are still accessible when the opportunity presents itself.

Take a look at the following video and you'll see some extremely high level Judo players at work... and one Head of State at play.
