From Bad to F-ing Horrible in Seconds

Here is a real life example of how fast a situation can go bad.  This guy is surrounded by police officers and still manages to kill at least one (if not two) and seriously wound others.  The tactics used by the officers ensured that someone was going to die - and I'm not talking about the assailant.

Toys For Tots

Martial Arts Koncepts is going to be a Toys For Tots collection point this season.  Please drop off a new, unwrapped toy and leave it in the collection box.  The USMC distributes tens of thousands of toys each year to children who would otherwise do without.  This year they have an even greater challenge - Hurricane Sandy.  Please take a moment to pick up a toy and bring it with you to class.  Thanks!

Do You Really Want to Do This?

Ran across the video and I thought that I'd share it with you guys.  I've enjoyed a lot of Scott's information that he has posted online over the years and even considered doing a workshop with him once or twice - he's got some good information that would help anyone who is into physical skills.  When I saw this I had to do a double-take though.  My experience with knife fighting is that you're holding the knife - and don't do ANYTHING that will compromise your grip on the knife until the threat is nullified.  Watch the video and you'll see why I was a little dismayed. Enjoy!

All Tied Up...

I love watching Erik Paulson at work - work being turning someone into a drooling human pretzel.  He has such passion for the grappling game and has such a depth of knowledge that every time you get a chance to work with him you come away with a greater appreciation of the ground game.  BTW - I especially like watching Erik lock someone else up!  I had my time being his Uke and those days are behind me!!!

The Last Stand

Yeah, I know - Arnold is over the hill and had an affair, etc.  I don't care - really!  I still think he makes fun movies that are designed to entertain the mindless and stimulus starved aka ME! :)  This looks like it's going to be fun and worth at least a matinee ticket...

Karl Gotch - The Godfather of Catch Wrestling

Karl Gotch is the real deal when it comes to wrestling and how to become strong using just your body weight alone.  Check out this video of him showing a series of body weight strength skills that will make you feel like a sissy-boy - because in the eyes of Karl Gotch you are!

The Bladed Hand

"The Bladed Hand" is a documentary on the Filipino Martial Arts and lists appearances by Guro Dan Inosanto, Jeff Imada, Ron Balicki, and many others.  It premiered last month on the West Coast but I didn't see any East Coast screenings listed.  I'm confident that it will be available on DVD in the near future.  Check out this page on the Inosanto Academy website for more information on this documentary.
