Pocket Folder for CQC?

If you carry a folder for CQC (Close Quarters Combat) you need to think about a few things as you choose and carry the knife.  Here is a short list:

  1. Is the blade long enough to produce trauma or a fatal injury in an attacker?
  2. Does the blade configuration limit it to either thrusting or slashing efficiently?
  3. Can you access the knife with either the left or right hand?
  4. Can you open the knife with both the left and right hand?
  5. Can you powerfully grip the knife with the tip up and tip down?
  6. Can you deploy (i.e.) open the knife while moving?
  7. Does the knife have safeties and/or blade locks?
  8. Is the knife expensive enough that you will hesitate to use it or leave it behind?
